Description for Classroom Podcasting
The classroom podcast has allowed students to speak about their work and what they have learned in class and listen to their own voices. Hearing their own voices promotes expression, voice quality and excitement about literacy.
The teacher created podcast, where I read a story by Dr. Seuss, allowed students who are non-readers to listen to the story, answer teacher given questions, look at pictures of friends that were embedded, and hear voices from themselves and friends.
My Reflection
My students really enjoyed using the podcast microphone to speak about their farm pictures and "The Foot Book" story. They were so quiet while taping and eager to hear their own voices. The use of the podcast encouraged my lower learners to complete their work so that they could add their voice to the stories. I will use this in the future with theme literature to allow non-readers to listen to the story with my voice embedded and listen to their friends' responses. Seeing their artwork on the podcast was exciting for them and my students felt important and accomplished with their work!
